Stability:
The native stool sample should reach the laboratory as soon as possible. If unable to reach the laboratory within 8 hours
the sample should be stored in the refrigerator.
Special Instructions:
Collection: A pea-sized formed stool sample is sufficient.
NB: The stool sample must not come in contact with water or urine. Ie (do not collect from toilet bowl)
Due to dilution, the Hb concentration may be lowered in very watery stool samples, which could lead to false negative (normal) results.
Therefore, diarrhoeal stools are unacceptable.
There are no dietary restrictions for this test.
